The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, was inaugurated on December, 14, 1947 and it is owned by Real Madrid Football Club.
It is located on the Paseo de la Castellana, very close to the AZCA commercial complex, where most of Madrid’s skyscrapers are. This is the reason to include it on the skyline walking tour section of this blog.
Bernabeu Stadium, has undergone through mayor renovations, and in 1954 they expanded its capacity to accommodate 125,000 spectators.
In the mid-1980s, UEFA introduced new safety standards due to increased violence in the stadiums of Europe, and was forced to install seats for all spectators, so its current capacity is of 85.454 spectators.
